Houston Zoo

The next day, I took Bear to the library for story time.

He got to make this cute bat craft too.  It was crazy crowded but really fun.

That afternoon we went to the zoo.  We got eaten by mosquitoes and it was really annoying.  There were more mosquitoes at the zoo than at the swampy state park!

Neil took this picture because I'm wearing leopard print and we're looking at the leopard.

When we left the zoo we went out for some good old Texas barbecue.  Neil was in heaven.  I hate bbq, so it was pretty crappy for me.

Houston, We Have A Problem

There are really big trees outside Neil's apartment and they were creeping me out when they'd scratch the windows in the wind.  I got even more scared when I looked out the window one night to see this garbage bag stuck in the trees.  I decided it was out little "ghost" decoration for Halloween.

We drove out to NASA's Johnson Space Center next. It was pretty cool.  There were a lot of things (at all the places we went) that we would've liked to spend more time looking at but Barrett wasn't interested so we kept moving.
They had several really cool replicas of space ships.

The best part was the kids section.  It was "Angry Birds Space" themed and was really cute.
We all had a lot of fun here.

Bear controlling the Mars Rover.

All of the movies were really loud so we had to watch them like this.

Bear really likes a book of my mom's called "Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me" so every time he saw the moon, he'd saw "moon please" over and over again.

Downtown Aquarium

Houston has kind of a lame aquarium but Bear doesn't care that much about a million fish, so that was fine.
He wanted to get down and run around in this picture.

They did have this white tiger, so that was pretty cool.  (haha I originally called it a lion, but luckily Georgy corrected me! I am a total moron sometimes!)

We got to pet some sting rays.

The best part of the aquarium was the stuff outside.  They had a merry-go-round that we rode twice because no one was on it!

We rode the choo choo train twice too.  Bear LOVED the choo choo!

It takes you through a shark tunnel.

Park Day

On Sunday we went to two parks.  First, we drove about an hour away to Brazos Bend State Park.  There are wild alligators all over this place and we were excited to see them!

This was the first, and biggest, alligator we saw. We saw a total of 9 alligators just hanging out in this lake.

Then we walked around the lake and that's where we saw the rest of them.  There's a little one behind Neil and Bear in this picture.  Besides the first one, all of the alligators we saw were pretty small.

Here's another little guy we saw really close to the trail.

It was a really nice day and the area around the state park was really pretty.  I made Bear wear long sleeves so he wouldn't get eaten by mosquitos- he got really hot though and I felt bad.  He was obviously upset about something in this picture but I don't remember what it was.  I think he wanted to go back down the stairs of the tower we had just climbed.

When we left the state park, we went to a park that Barrett would have more fun at.  (We stopped at home to change his clothes so he wouldn't die of heat anymore!)
It's called Firetruck Park and it was adorable!

Bear thought he was so funny swinging with no hands.

Story time after a very long day (with NO nap!).  Bear loves reading and would read 10 books before bedtime if we'd let him!  He reads to himself sometimes and it is adorable.  And he actually tells the stories (parts of them anyways), it's pretty amazing!

Houston Museum of Natural Science

We spent the next morning at the Natural Science museum.  Overall, they had a couple cool things here, but it wasn't very kid friendly.  They had one little bug section for kids, so that was good.
I think they're looking at different types of oil here.
Finally at the bug exhibit, Bear got to ride this big caterpillar!

There were lots of buttons to push.

They had a huge butterfly room- although I don't think you can see any in this picture.  There are literally thousands of butterflies in this room though.

Cute little worker bee area.

And Bear was awesome at putting the shapes through the flowers.  He's so smart!

We also went to the famous Sprinkles cupcake bakery that day.  We spent a small fortune on cupcakes that were definitely overrated!! Oh well, now we know.
