Color Theory

I'm not sure what prompted this curiosity, but lately Bear has been constantly asking what color you get if you mix two colors.  Green and purple make?????  Brown and black make???? It's almost always hard color combinations that I'm just like, uhhhh, dark black?
So we've done a few fun things to help him figure out on his own what he'll get by mixing colors.
We got these Crayola bath colors way back when we lived in Denver, but we got them out again so he could mix them together.

I thought he'd enjoy mixing paints.  He liked it okay

but was more interested in mixing the colors in the water as he rinsed out his brushes.

Hey Weekend

On Friday night we actually went over for dinner at Nicole and Randon's house but I was too occupied with Eden that I completely forgot to take any pictures :(  It was very fun and they made a great meal!
Saturday we went out to celebrate mine, Diane's and Michele's April birthdays.  Kim and Ty came too and we really had a blast.  We went to Sushi Monster in Farmington.

April babies!  It always makes me laugh that two of my best friends are like 47 and 50!

Sunday we went to Pat and Dawn's to have a birthday party for Beck.
Eden and Papa.
Beck turned 11.

Most of the kids had a lot of fun playing on the floor with Eden.

You can't go to Grandma and Papa's and NOT play in the gym!

Tattoo Before and After (And During)

I love a good before and after shot- especially when I know they're not photoshopped or anything.  I wrote a post about my first laser treatment a while ago (recap: it was horrible), but wanted to do a post of my whole series of treatments. The lighting is all very different but you can still get an idea of how it's been going.

I paid for a package with 5 treatments.  It took a LONG time to get all 5 treatments because I couldn't do any when I was pregnant and they actually recommended I didn't do it while breastfeeding either (both my dermatologist and pediatrician said it was fine so I did the last 2 while breastfeeding).  My tattoo has lightened a ton but obviously is not gone yet.  I will definitely continue getting treatments on it but probably will wait til after summer because you can't get it in the sun during treatments.  I also don't think I'll go back to this place, I think it was called Flawless Laser in Ogden. They were fine but I think I'll either try to find a dermatologist to finish it or an office that specializes just in tattoo removal.
To be continued...

Birthday Dinner

Sunday we had my birthday dinner with my family.  When my Grandma came over, my dad suggested getting a 4 generations picture.

I had an oriental chicken salad for dinner and peanut butter bars.  I think I had both of those things last year too but they are SOOOOO good and it's the only time my mom makes them.

Bear was mad that other kids beat him to the candles.

Oh and this was probably a month ago, but Taylor graduated from Park City Culinary school.  He's already been working as a chef at Em's for years, but wanted to have more education. It was really hard for him to keep up with school and work but he did it!

T Ball and Swimming

We are already having a very busy month!  Bear has started t ball, which is 1-2 times each week.  This was his first practice.

Eli up to bat.

Yes, Bear and Eli are on the same t ball team ;)  It's fun for them to have a friend to do things with and it's fun for me and Nicole to get to sit and talk while they play!  One day they won't want to do all the same things so we're living it up while we can!

After practice he got his uniform.  A GIGANTIC shirt and an Angel's hat.  Blue Jays and Angels are my favorite teams.

AND he started swimming lessons too, which is twice every week!
He insisted on wearing these safety glasses to swimming one day.

10 Months

At 10 months...
Eden is now scared of loud, noisy things like Bear's remote control cars, her little turtle that crawls, the vacuum.
I've been trying to teach her the sign for "more" and in the last week she's finally started doing it!
She started getting a sippy cup over the last month- but probably drinks from a big cup more often. She definitely prefers real food over baby food.

She has FINALLY turned a corner with spitting up.  She spits up so much less now, it's amazing!
It has gotten really difficult to change her diaper.  She rolls over or she kicks and pushes my hands away.

She will share whatever toy she's holding with you- as long as you give it back.  She'll often hold her binky up to me while I nurse her for me to suck on.
Speaking of her binky and nursing.  I finally solved the scratching and pinching problem while nursing her by letting her hold her binky.  She used to throw it so I didn't let her hold it, occasionally she still will but mostly it just keeps her hands occupied and not killing me. She still gets at least 1 bad scratch on her face each week though :(

She learned how to sit up from laying on her belly.  She first started doing this in her crib when I'd go to get her up from her naps and now she can do it any time.
She waves and will give high fives.
She nods her head- not always to mean "yes" but it is so cute.
She points to things she wants or where she wants you to take her.
She does not stay in one place anymore.  I'll put her down by her toys but she won't usually stay there long.
She'll throw things that she doesn't want.
Loves to get books out and look at them.

She does get a little jealous when I'm giving more attention to Barrett.

Still scoots everywhere on her bum, she CAN crawl she just doesn't do it.
Has a constant rug burn on her left calf because of it.

She will occasionally get on her hands and knees (she's usually rocking on them in her crib when I get her) and she will do a real crawl for a short time before reverting to her preferred, superfast bum scoot.
Just today she started crawling a lot more!  Probably scooting 80% and crawling 20% but that's a big improvement from 99% scooting, 1% crawling!

Baby girl is about 15.4 lbs now!
Her hair is curly and since I don't know how to make it cute curly, I almost always brush her hair straight after the tub.
She's been getting 3 (maybe 4) top teeth lately, 3 have popped through and I think 1 is still trying.  You can kind of see them if you look close in this picture.

Birthday Surprise

Friday night Neil was flying in late from Texas and before he got on the plane he texted me and said to pack a bag because we were going to be going somewhere on Saturday.  I really wasn't sure what to expect but on Saturday we were all packed up and headed down to the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake.  We dropped off our stuff at the hotel and then headed to City Creek for a make up shopping spree at Sephora.

We went to Blue Lemon for dinner.
Then back to the hotel.

There was a cake in our room when we got there too.

Eden loved scooting around and playing with the mirrors- she loves looking at herself!

Next we went up to the pool and had it mostly to ourselves.

Eden wanted to play with the baby in the mirror again.

And she loves to give kisses!  I wish she'd kiss me that often!  Isn't her Juicy Couture swimsuit cute!?  I think I bought that when I was first pregnant with Barrett.

After swimming we got ready for bed and ate my birthday cake.
As I was getting ready for bed, Bear asked me to sleep with him because there were two pillows.  Stupidly, I told him I had to finish getting ready for bed but Dad would lay with him.  They fell asleep together and I missed my chance!  Bear asked Neil to sleep with him the next night too and promised Neil a special surprise if he slept with him all night!

Sunday morning we went to the Grand America's brunch.  Let me just warn you that you will NOT get your money's worth if you go with kids.  It was good but definitely a waste of money for us that day.

In the toy/candy store in the hotel.  Bear and Eden got little bunny stuffed animals- not the dragon Bear's holding, although I think he would've preferred that.

We went up to the State Capitol to see all the pretty blossoms.  We missed the full blooms by about a week unfortunately but they were still very pretty.

Bear loved climbing on everything and then running around and rolling down the big hills.

I got a pretty excellent action shot!

Our room over looked the courtyard.  Bear and Neil were trying to throw money into the fountain from our balcony.  They got pretty close! (there was another, closer fountain that you can't see in the picture, it was much closer to our balcony) When we went down there later, they actually found the coin on the ground right by the water.

Even though you can't see the gorgeous flowers behind us, we always have to get a picture in front of them every time we stay there.

Down in the courtyard.

Bear wanted a picture by himself so I told him to pick a place and pose.
They played tag.

Outside the toy store there was this neat contraption that bouncy balls moved through, Bear watched it for about half an hour on Saturday and again on Sunday!

The boys went swimming again and then we went to the Porcupine Grill by the U for dinner that night.  It wasn't all that great to be honest.

Barrett is always picking dandelions for me.  Such a thoughtful boy.

Monday morning (my birthday!) we just ordered room service and got ready to head home.

Neil and I went to the gym together- and actually worked out together- which we've only done once or twice in our whole lives probably!

My mom made an amazing steak and twice baked potato dinner that night!  YUM!

And we had some ice cream, Bear decided this whole container was his.
