Valentines

Barrett got invited to his very first Valentine's Day party!  We both had a such a good time and we're so glad to have a few friends!
Bear loved his cute heart shaped balloon that his friend Claire gave him.

He also got to see Roger the dog!  Barrett LOVES animals so he was super excited to see a real doggy!

Bear and Atom playing.

Way cute decorations and even festive desserts.  Oh, and everyone wore red to the party too.
Rebecca set up some crafts for the kids to make and cookies to decorate.

We tried to get a family shot with our Mrs. Cavanaugh's chocolate hearts that my mom spent a fortune shipping up to us!

This was the best pic I could get of my crabby valentine- he was exhausted from all that partying!

Sunday Funday

We went to try out the golf simulator again this weekend.  The first time we went, it was brand new but was already broken!  We had better luck this time.  Neither of us play golf (does that surprise you?), but we wanted to try it out anyways.
The simulator is really cool- you could pick courses from all over the world and choose your weather and everything.  We picked the Coeur d'Alene golf course since we'd been there. We only played 2 holes because it took us forever!

Notice my ball is still on the tee...  That happened a lot!

Neil was better than me, but not by too much!  I think on the 2 holes we finished, my score was like 46 or something and his was in the 30s. hahaha!

Bear had fun looking around and exploring.

Luckily, these door knobs are higher than the ones in our apartment and he couldn't escape.  (He can't get out of our apartment either because it's always locked of course, but he's tall enough that he can open doors now so we have to be careful!)

We also made him a mini sand box with rice to play with.  He just wanted to scoop the rice onto the floor which was fine.  We're really into making huge messes theses days, nonetheless, I think we'll do this outside next time...

Other Happenings from Last Week

One of Neil's sweet coworkers invited us over to her house for dinner earlier in the week.  It was so fun to be out of our house but even more fun for Bear to be around darling kids (he misses his cousins SO MUCH!) and he got to pet a kitty!  These pictures aren't super clear, but you get the idea of the doting kids and Bear's excitement!

We went out shopping the other day and Bear was super excited to see another water fountain- he got even happier when he saw there were fish in the pond!

He couldn't take his eyes off the fish!

The city looks really pretty when the sunset reflects off the buildings.

Snow Day

It's been snowing like crazy here the last few days (not quite like Utah's snow, but there's still a ton of it!).  A lot of employers were letting their employees work from home if possible and Neil was one of those lucky workers!
We put Bear in the tub with some toys and a bunch of shaving cream just for funsies and he loved it!

He had just as much fun when we turned the water on to clean him up!

8 Years and Counting!

February 5th, 2013 marks our 8th wedding anniversary!  We usually go on a big vacation around our anniversary or my birthday, but we stayed in and had a nice dinner with the little one this year.  We do live in Canada, so that's kind of like a vacation and we are going home to Utah in a week, and that's an even better vacation!

In other news...
Bear has become obsessed with keys- luckily he hasn't lost any yet!  He loves going down to get the mail and trying to put the key in all the locks!  He's actually really good at putting the keys in things, so it's a really good thing we have outlet covers on all our plugs!!  (yes, he's tried to do that before)

He also discovered that oven mitts can be put on his arms.  He's the funnest!

Sports Day

We spent Sunday watching more sports than usual (the usual being 0).  We took Barrett to his first NBA game, it was the Toronto Raptors vs the Miami Heat.  It was actually a really close game the whole time, but I really wasn't able to watch any of it because we were busy with Bear.
I thought it was interesting they sang both the American and Canadian national anthems.

This is how Bear was for probably the whole first quarter.  I thought he might fall asleep but he didn't.

You can see in this picture that Bear has a fat top lip :( He fell right on his face just before we were leaving for the game.  He was so upset, it was really sad!

Barrett made friends with everyone around him, but especially this little girl!  She was so cute with Bear and had him laughing forever!

Barrett was so good during the game.  He'd often clap or yell when the crowd was doing those things, he'd dance to the music, and occasionally cheer with the fans too!
Go Raptors! We were hoping we'd be able to go when the Jazz were coming up here, but the Heat was fun to watch too.

We also watched the Super Bowl! Yep- even me and Bear watched part of it!  (I had to throw his shirt in the wash after dinner.)

I actually don't mind watching sports if we're at the event, but I'm not one to watch them on TV.  I think our next event will be a Maple Leafs game when I get back from Utah.  Between ticket prices, the time of the games, and the overall rowdiness, I think we'll be leaving Bear with a sitter for that one!

Escape Artist

I went in to pick up Barrett after his afternoon nap the other day and found him sans pants.  I called Neil in to take a picture and ask him if he took Bear's pants off at some point.  He hadn't, Barrett figured out how to take off his own pants and just threw them out of his crib.  We're lucky that's the only thing he took off!!

He's crying because we're taking pictures instead of picking him up.

New and Improved

We moved back into our original apartment this weekend.  I was really surprised that they were finished when they said they would be!
The floors are WAY nicer than the old floors so I'm really happy we went through the big pain of moving out and back in again!
We're all settled in again- at least for a couple of weeks until we pack up to go out of town!

Monkey Magoo's Playground

I took Barrett to an indoor play place last week so we could get out of the house.  I don't think we'd go back, but he had a really fun time!
I know it's disgusting, but I let him play in the ball pit for a really long time.  And yes, he tried to eat all of them.

But look how much fun he was having, I just couldn't take him out!

Squeeze

Apparently you're supposed to "squeeze" instead of "merge" here.

Maybe if Neil hadn't been driving so fast, I could have taken better pictures.

They also have oddly specific parking rules.

And we've driven past some interesting stores as well but I haven't been able to get pictures... One store is called Multiple Organics and another is The Happy Hooker!

Friends!

We had a fun little playdate this week and finally made some friends!  YAY!
Barrett had a great time playing with tons of toys and kids!
