Celebrate Good Times

Friday was my 30th birthday and we celebrated ALL weekend!
On Friday, we had some cupcakes with the Young's.

Later that night, we had a big party with tons of my friends over at Neil's parent's house.  I think the kids had a great time playing in the racquetball court and I know I had a great time hanging out with so many friends!

Neil was the grill master and an overall awesome host.

Friday was so busy I didn't even have time to open my presents. We finally got around to it after the gym on Saturday.  I spent a fortune at lululemon on gym clothes (because that's pretty much all I wear anyways),  got a new swimsuit (or 2 or 3...), some new sunnies, some makeup, and, I think that's it.  And we're going on a cruise next week! WOO HOO!

Pops thinks up some crazy ideas sometimes.  "Hey, let's see if you can hit the ball out of the tree with a stick!"
Saturday night, we had a party for me, Michele, and Diane since all of our birthdays are in April.  I can't believe we only took this 1 picture!

Sunday, we got to see Papa and Grandma.

My nieces and nephews put on an interesting show for us.

And we had my birthday dinner with my family.  I had teriyaki salmon and my mom's chocolate chip cookies for a birthday cake.

The kids got pretty messy with those chocolate chips!

Surprisingly I didn't have a hard time turning 30. I thought I'd be all upset about it, but I've just been so happy to get to party with all my friends it hasn't phased me yet!

Weekend Fun

This weekend, we finally got out of the house for some fun!  We went to the Denver Zoo with Kelsey
and Alex on Saturday.  It ended up being great weather and not very crowded.

We watched this really fun seal show maybe it was a sea lion- I can't remember.

Bear was happy to play with Tyce and Rylee.

On the merry-go-round.

You can kind of see Tyce back there behind Rylee. Kelsey's arm is there too :)

On Sunday, we went down to play at their house.  The kids watched Despicable Me 2 and played with toys.

And Tyce took Bear on a little drive in their backyard.
Just a few more days til we're partying in Utah!!

We're Bored!

This has felt like a really L O N G week. We haven't been getting out very much because I don't want risk having an accident. Here's a few things we've had going on this week.
Our grocery store has these shopping carts that play movies in them.  I kind of hate them because I don't like Bear watching too much tv, but I also kind of love them because he sits perfectly still and quiet the whole time we're there!
They play shows from the Sprouts Channel, which I've never heard of, but Barrett is a fan.
We get free balloons from our store too.  It's a great store.

Barrett got this delicious and adorable Cap'n Crunch frappuccino.  No coffee, just a lot of yummy sugar.
He had a major whip cream mustache from it.  He wanted another one as soon as it was gone.

Lately he's been telling me he's going to work.  He's told me he's going to work with Daddy and also going to work at Pops and Lala's house.  When I was trying to get him to come inside the other day, he told me he was going to work and I just stood by our front door thinking he'd come right back because he never runs off.  I peek around the corner a second later and he's clear down the street!  I had to chase him down and bring him back home.

I think he may be developing a few OCD tendencies.  I asked him to put away his shoes and when I went to check on him (he was in there for a while) I saw that he had stacked up all these shoes and toys.  He usually lines up these toys, but the stack is a new one.

He had to separate his berries.

And turn all his tomatoes facing down.
If I put something in a different place (even in the fridge or dishwasher) he'll fix it and scold me for putting it in the wrong spot.  At least he's clean- I won't complain about that!

He slept 11 hours last night and woke up dry!!  That's the second time he's slept through the night since potty training.  I think we're getting the hang of it!  Also, his bedhead.
I think it's so cute when he kicks back and watches his show like this.  He sleeps with his arms like this sometimes too.

A week or two or ago, he learned how to spell his name.

I heard him from the other room yesterday saying to himself, "good morning, handsome"  This kid is pure entertainment!

Potty Training Update

1 week + 1 day after beginning our potty training, Barrett has been a total champ!!
He's had only a few small accidents since we started (knock on wood so I don't jinx it!)
The hard part hasn't been him going to the bathroom or cleaning up messes (since there's hardly been any), it's been that his sleep schedule has gotten messed up since he started using the potty.
His naps aren't as good because he spends the first 30 minutes saying he has to go pee, so I'm getting him out of his crib 10 times.  Often his naps have been shorter too- which is the opposite of what we need right now.
And at night it's the same thing when he's trying to go to sleep and then he wakes up in the middle of the night to pee as well.  The first few nights were super rough because he'd wake up once or twice and stay awake for 1-2 hours!
Also, he wants me or Neil to sit on the bed in his room when he's trying to go to sleep now and won't fall asleep unless we're there.
This is all a HUGE change since I usually just put him in bed and see him in the morning (or after his 3-4 hour nap).  I don't know what I could do differently to help him adjust.
Honestly, if I could go back and NOT potty train him yet, I think I would.  I'd much prefer sleep and sanity to changing diapers.
This is after I got him up from his nap the other day- he was still so tired.  Neither of us are getting enough sleep these days.
I think it is slowly starting to get better (again, knock on wood!) and I'm hoping that everything will just continue to get back to normal as time goes by! Wish us luck!!

Friends!!

We had our first playdate in Denver today! We met up at an indoor playground place with a girl from our church who has a son close to Bear's age.  The place was WAY bigger than I expected but it was fun.
As soon as we got there, Bear started playing with these 2 older girls (not the people we went with) and he played with them the whole time they were there!  I think he's just more used to playing with older kids since his cousins are all older than him.

They were so cute with him and he was in heaven to have kids to play with!  Also, I took him on that humongous slide that's partially in this picture below.  It was seriously huge and you went SO fast down it; it scared me to death!  Bear was scared too, but he didn't cry- I think I was more scared than he was (But I didn't cry either)!

The kid that you can barely see behind Barrett and the girl in the purple (her name was Aniston) was the kid we met up to play with.  His name is Will- they didn't really play together at all.  Oh well.

Once the big girls left, Barrett came and played with me, Vera (the baby), and Darlene (Will and Vera's mom) in the smaller section.
Unfortunately (but also fortunately because we'll be doing FUN things), we'll be gone for about a month, so as soon as Bear and I have friends, we won't see them again for a long time!
