Travel Day

We had to get up so early on Friday to get us up and ready in time to get to the airport.  Even though we woke up this early (I may have hit snooze a few times) we were still a little late to the airport.  The road conditions were horrible thanks to Winter Storm Gandalf and you know how it is when you've got a million last minute things!  

The airplane still took off pretty close to schedule and we got so lucky in getting a whole row (3 seats) for me, Bear and my mom.

He likes looking out the window, but even more, he likes opening and closing the window shade.

My mom and Bear watched a few minutes of Max and Ruby to get him to fall asleep.  He only slept about an hour during the WHOLE day!

We had a layover in Detroit and we just had to run from one gate to the next (we were really hot and tired and hungry after that).  We had to go through this Willy Wonka tunnel on the way; it's like a light show kind of and it even plays weird music.  If you ever go through it, I promise you'll think of the scary boat ride in Willy Wonka!

When we finally got to Toronto and finally made it through customs, we get to the baggage claim area to find luggage all over the floor instead of on the baggage carousels.  I don't know what their deal is, but it was ridiculous.  
Really the only crappy thing that happened on this trip (and it was really crappy) was we forgot to get Barrett's car seat from the baggage area.  Luckily my mom realized we didn't have it, but only after walking almost all the way back to the car with 4 other suitcases, 4 carry ons, and a stroller (and the car was probably a half a mile away- I'm not even exaggerating).  SO we go all the way back to the baggage area BUT since baggage is still part of customs, you can't get back in once you've gone out.  We had to ask a stupid lady what to do and she sent us to the Delta counter (which was up 1 floor and literally on the opposite side of the very large airport).  When we made it there, they said they'd call down to the baggage area and they would have someone bring our car seat out to us.  So we had to go ALL THE FREAKING WAY BACK to the baggage area again.  We did get the car seat eventually so that was good, but then of course, we had to go all the way back to the car.  Holy crap!  We were all beat!  Barrett was so good though, he didn't fuss or whine at all!!

So we get here and it's been really good weather!  Everyone keeps telling me how cold Toronto is but today we had really good weather (especially compared to the 2+ feet of snow we left back in Utah)!  I know this weather is quite unusual for Toronto this time of year though, so I'm expecting the "Toronto Cold" to set in soon enough...

The Breakfast Club

For the past week or so, Barrett has been eating breakfast with Pops. When I say eating breakfast with him, I really mean eating his breakfast.
He'll reach into Pops' bowl and grab out blueberries and Mini Wheats.  

Play Dates

We were lucky enough to have some play dates while we were in town.  My cousin Liddle came over with her baby Soleil.  Soleil is one of the smartest babies ever!  I'm seriously amazed at the things she can do.

Today I got to have Kacey, Zeek, Nicole, and Eli over.  Zeek and Eli loved being in a new environment with lots of new things to explore. 

The best part was when they all sat together and ate (spilled is a better description) cheerios and cheetos all over the place!  They had a good time though!

I also got to have a play date with Kelsey at Cutler's.  It was delicious as was expected and so fun to just sit and chat for 2 hours!

Olivia brought her American Girl doll over with some of her cute little accessories and Bear was having a blast with them all!~  He especially liked playing in the tent.

Later that day, we went to watch Nick play in his basketball game. It was so fun to walk into his game and see my good friend Jenny Ray from the gym.  Her boys are on Nick's team.  Nick's not one of the boys playing in this picture, but one of Jenny's twins is the boy in the black jersey.  Barrett was only interested in the game for about 2 minutes.

That little baby behind Jill is Jenny's baby Cooper.  I got to hold him for a minute until Bear got jealous.

Bear and the girls had even more fun chasing each other around the commons of Davis High.

New Years Day

Since Bear goes to bed so early, he didn't get to participate in any of the New Years Eve celebrations. He and LaLa had their own little party the next day though complete with streamers, a hat, and the parade.

Later in the day, we went to Grandma CC's for prime rib like we always do.  Bear had a great time running around a new place with his cousins.

Airing Out

I mentioned in my last post that Bear has had really bad diaper rash (actually the WORST diaper rash I've ever seen in my life).  We've been letting him go diaper free to let his bum air out and grow skin back but then he's left with bare legs too.  I felt bad that his little knees and feet were getting raw from crawling on the carpet so I put him in a pair of my socks to act as baby leg warmers.

All Wet

Last week, Barrett got the worst diaper rash I have ever seen in my life!  It was horrible!  He's never really even gotten diaper rash before in his whole life and then he got it so bad.  Seriously, I felt awful.  Anyways, to help his little bum get better, I let him go without a diaper every so often. 
He peed on me twice and peed on the floor twice, but he's almost over the rash now, so it was well worth it. 
This is a picture of one of the times he peed on me.  He's not wearing a diaper and his jammies aren't zipped up either, so I really got it!  You can see a few wet spots on my side, too bad Neil didn't take a picture of my shirt, shorts, leg, shoe, and the floor when I put Bear down!

Happy New Years

This year we went to Luke and Michelle's house to ring in the new year.  We had a Chinese New Year dinner, played some games, and lit off fireworks at midnight.  It was so much fun~!  All these pictures are phone pictures, so they're not super awesome (and most of them I stole from Jason's facebook).

The gifts for Yankee Swap.

Brittney and Markham.  We just found out that Brittney grew up right by where we were just living in Texas, like 2 or 3 cities away is all!  Crazy!

We played LCR but didn't tell anyone to bring cash, so we had to play with chips instead.  Still fun though.

We played the Pirate Dice game from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Neil won.

New Years kiss.  12/31/12 is the 9 year anniversary of Neil and I meeting.  We met thanks to Markham, who was also at this party!!
